What’s the job?

The Digital Market Research Analyst is responsible for supporting the Digital Experience team (DEX) by keeping abreast of the current competitive digital banking market landscape. The digital savvy candidate will have a natural curiosity for digital innovation, emerging banking technologies and have a keen interest on the latest fintech market. In addition to having to identify and fill knowledge gaps on industry trends and competitor (traditional & new) strategies and activities, the candidate will also have excellent story-telling abilities to articulate their findings in written and verbal form. Objectives of this role will include the evaluation of a wide variety of banking solutions via ‘Mystery shopping’ techniques.


What you’ll get to do:

  • Play a key support role in advancing competitive insights required to support journey mapping, persona development and user experience testing.
  • Promote and support the vision of instilling data and analytically based culture within the organization. Acts as the advocate in the discipline of Business Intelligence
  • Measure, report and make actionable recommendations to help drive measurable improvements to the digital channels in line with Coast Capital’s strategic goals.
  • Coordinate and facilitate lunch & learn reviews and other related digital banking strategy workshops
  • Develop, maintain and foster a network of information sources for internal teams, stakeholder and other partners within Coast Capital Savings
  • Provide point-of-views on Digital Banking industry through ‘mystery’ shopping
  • Conduct in-depth competitive intelligence research and analysis using a variety of industry tools (i.e., Forrester, Gartner, Surviscor)
  • Analyze and report on competitive research results. Develop actionable recommendations for the Digital Experience team and overall management
  • Work in collaboration with Digital Insights Analyst to provide qualitative analysis with competitive research
  • Collaborate with Digital UX and Corporate Research teams in collection of the member insights
  • Support in developing competitive research objectives and appropriate methodologies, scope, and parameters of studies to help shape and influence CCS corporate and business lines strategies and enterprise strategy planning, innovation and execution processes
  • Define and report on competitive metrics (i.e., latest industry ranking, market strategy & presence)
  • Develop concise, audience-appropriate, presentation-ready, actionable reports based on strategic insight on the overall Digital Banking landscape
  • Provides expertise in the design and maintenance of competitive matrices & techniques (battle cards, product canvases, internal and external presentations, etc.)


Who are we looking for?

  • 2 years in Competitive Research / Market Analytics field with a preference of experience in qualitative digital analytics. Experience in eCommerce or Digital Banking Products preferred.
  • Strong focus on using Secondary research, mining various enterprise data sources and reports, identifying trends and opportunities for the purpose of growing and advancing CCS digital banking channels
  • Experience in keeping up-to-date with competitive and industry trends & practices
  • Capable of presenting a point of view. Create presentations that focus on industry insights while clearly articulating points with supporting data where appropriate
  • Leverage knowledge management tools and or communication techniques to share insights broadly across the organization. Ability to consider different communication preferences various across internal audiences
  • Takes ownership for stewarding the Digital Strategy team’s competitive knowledge base by continuously maintaining reports & data. Own the building and ongoing updating of the competitive research portfolio
  • Works with internal stakeholders to compile current knowledge and identify gaps needed to make better decisions
  • Bachelor’s Degree or a diploma requiring 3 – 4 years of full-time study in the research or related field
  • Ability to conduct scope business analysis including workflow analysis, business information requirements and models
  • Ability to understand and interpret website statistics.
