Marketing and Visitor Services Manager

The Garden is major tourist attraction in Vancouver with the mission of making cultural learning accessible and bringing cultural communities together from global to local.

Job Description

  • Develop tourism sales and marketing strategy and manage the execution of annual campaigns
  • Develop and execute process and management systems for visitor data collection and analytics
  • Manage the development and execution of content strategy that connects tourism marketing, cultural and community programs promotion, retail promotion
  • Manage the overall visitor experience including the visitor services and tour experience
  • Make recommendation and execution to enhance visitor services operation efficiency and quality through implementation of visitor experience measurement system
  • Work with Executive Director to develop and execute strategic short and long term initiatives in destination development and cultural tourism
  • Manage and continuously develop new approaches to help drive annual pass holders and membership uptake and engagement
  • Serve as primary media contact for daily communications and press conference
  • Drive improvement and expansion of operational capacity for marketing, communications and visitor services corresponding to strategic objectives
  • Manage relationships and partnerships with contractors, marketing partners and service providers that are relevant to marketing and communications
  • Report plans, activities, performance information, staff schedules and financial information related to visitor services and marketing on a regular basis to the Executive Director
  • Work closely with and provide strategic counsel to Executive Director
  • Other duties as required by the Executive Director
  • University degree in business, marketing, public relations/communications is an asset
  • Understanding of tourism industry with 6 or more years of professional experience in business, tourism and strategy development an asset
  • Ability to create and maintain effective relationships with tourism industry leaders and entrepreneurs
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of and a keen desire to develop community economic opportunities through tourism and cultural programming
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including writing, public speaking and presentation
  • Project management expertise with skills in planning, organizing, measuring and managing resources to meet goals
  • Strong ‘can do, will do, must do’ mentality with a courteous, positive, team-player attitude
  • Ability to manage execution of multi-year strategic objectives
  • Strong skills in time management, organization and prioritization as well as ability to take initiative
  • Demonstrated discretion and the ability to work with sensitive information
