Marketing Director

Monstercat is excited to share the opportunity for a Marketing Director to join our team and lead our marketing strategy across Music, Events, Apparel, and Gaming to build fan loyalty and grow brand reach. The ideal fit for this role will have the ability to bridge the connection between communities and brand, to share the stories behind Monstercat, to advocate the mission of empowering creatives, all while empowering the people around you every single day. This role entails working across 10 multi-disciplinary teams ensuring that a cohesive and comprehensive marketing plan is developed and successfully executed. You understand how to grow a brand internationally, maintaining the integrity of the brand and embracing local cultures and values. Working directly with the CEO, this role requires working at the strategic level, while also possessing the ability to work at the ground level to mobilize teams and execute.


  • Develop a comprehensive marketing strategy that encompasses all elements of the marketing mix to create fan Buzz, brand awareness, experience, engagement, and affiliation by adopting an omnichannel approach
  • Consistently generate Buzz for fans through creative & innovative projects
  • Develop brand loyalty & affiliation with our peripheral fans
  • Communicate our mission of Empowering Creatives to new audiences, encouraging them to join the movement
  • Develop a ‘sticky’ content plan that is consistent, generates Buzz with fans and communicates our mission to new audiences
  • Collaborate with our Commercial Director to develop international 360 marketing strategies for our 10 priority territories that grows and engages our international fan base
  • Secure high-level brand partnerships and welcome their community
  • Develop an annual strategic marketing plan that includes – measurable goals, key activities, resource needs, and ensure this plan is signed off by the CEO, Director of Operations, and Financial Controller
  • Resource plan effectively to ensure the marketing team is adequately resourced to execute growth plans and achieve goals
  • Ensure sound management is practiced with internal stakeholders – direct and indirect team members to promote a collaborative work environment
  • Apply situational leadership principles, be a coach and empower people around you
  • Prepare and present at company-wide meetings to share marketing developments
  • Ensure team alignment and successful execution of the strategic plan – adopt a 360-management approach
  • Arrange quarterly check-ins with CEO, Director of Operations, and Financial Controller, and evaluate strategy performance on an annual basis.
  • Liaise with the Manager of People & Culture to manage all human resource needs within the Marketing team – recruitment, enablement, evaluation, dismissal if necessary, succession planning and team member engagement
  • Actively support in the employee experience and company culture


  • 7+ years’ experience in digital media, marketing, and content management
  • 5+ years’ experience managing, mentoring, and empowering a team of marketing professionals across various functions
  • Ability to articulate vision and strategy in a way that is motivating to the team and achieves business goals
  • Proven ability to develop effective and engaging digital media campaigns, brand narrative, and integrated marketing programs that drive results
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and leadership skills
  • Excellent visual, written, and verbal presentation skills
  • Strong understanding of digital trends and the social media landscape including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
  • Experience working with global brands
  • Familiarity with business partnership activations
  • Drive to produce elevated, brand-building, and innovative work in a collaborative environment
  • A positive can-do attitude, egoless nature, and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Experience working in the music industry or with music brands, including knowledge of current trends, music history, the music industry, and digital music, preferred but not required
